Thank you for supporting this event and raising awareness and support for those with Alzheimer's.
This winter has been wildly cold, windy, and in some ways quite mentally challenging for me to get my head around preparing for our Tri Together.... An Ironman for Alzheimer's ( honoring the Alz Assoc.'s The Longest Day event in June).
One of the toughest aspects of having a goal, is to find peace and compassion in disappointment with expectations. This is not my strength! Timing is an important part of training for an IM. When the panic starts to kick in, it can be very difficult to talk myself down. The disappointment with not doing a workout, or having it be so immensely miserable, is rough. It's easy to share when things are going well. You feel strong, and in control. It's not easy when you can't get out of your own head and it's being dominated by "negative nelly".
In the past few weeks, I have had that experience more than I care to admit. I share this because we all experience the same things, if only in different aspects or mediums of living life.
To embrace our lows, our disappointments, even our fears, is where we grow the most ( especially when we least want to!!!).
Needless to say, I am grateful, yet again, for the opportunity to learn to be more flexible in life, for being able to move in all the ways I can, and for the passion to want to make a difference.
My hope and intention is to still move for the entire 15 hour day on June 20, with many of you joining me for any part of the day that you would like :-)
